Mosquito Viruses

Zika virus
Zika virus is spread to people through mosquito bites.
The most common symptoms of Zika are fever, rash, joint pain, and conjunctivitis (red eyes). The illness is usually mild with symptoms lasting for several days to a week. About one in five people infected with Zika virus become symptomatic. For more information about Chikungunya review at this factsheet or visit the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
 .
West Nile Virus
West Nile virus is the most common mosquito-borne illness in the United States and is found in Louisiana.  Common symptoms of West Nile virus include headache, body aches, joint pain, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, fatigue and weakness.  For more information about West Nile virus visit the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention .
St. Louis Encephalitis

Mosquitoes
More than just a nuisance, mosquitoes can be dangerous. They can spread West Nile Virus, Encephalitis, Malaria and Yellow Fever, among other diseases. A blood-borne illness, West Nile Virus is transmitted by mosquitoes to a variety of hosts, including birds, horses, cats, dogs, bats, rabbits, and humans. Most cases of West Nile in humans show up in late summer or early fall, but can appear year-round in warmer parts of the country. While August and September are prime mosquito months due to warmer temperatures, mosquitoes begin breeding as early as February or March.

Due to the threat from mosquitoes, there have been several companies that have spawned up across the country to profit from this situation. But consumers should  know that most cities have a Mosquito Abatement Program in place paid by their local tax dollars. Most of these agencies will provide mosquito treatments to homes and business at no charge within their territory, but these government provided services may be limited due to governmental budgets restraints. In an effort to capitalize on the mosquito opportunity, private companies have been developing other mosquito control options such as bi-weekly spraying with insecticides and full blown automated mosquito misting systems installed around structures. The Department of Agriculture along with the EPA do not look kindly on these Mosquito Misting Systems, because of wind drift of pesticides that may occur.

For many years we had decided to stay out of the mosquito treating arena, because there was no effective treatment that we believed was a good option for our customers. In our constant search for an effective treatment option we discovered IN2Care Technologies. This company has developed a system that utilizes the behavioral patterns of the mosquito against itself. It has designed a way for the gravid mosquito to transport larvacide to the numerous hidden  breeding mosquito sites that we would never find. This technology in now in 30 countries and has been producing huge success in the control of mosquitoes when executed properly. This technology was brought to the United States in 2016 and tested in Florida, it received EPA approval in 2018 for use throughout the US.

After conducting our own testing on this system in early 2019, we have created our own program utilizing this new technology that we call the "MOSQUITO DEFENSE SYSTEM" , which was launched In September of 2019. This program is both AFFORDABLE & EFFECTIVE!. The Mosquito Defense System starts at only $38 a month after the initial installation and carries no long term obligation. Learn more about this new program at our dedicated website that explains all the details of the program @ www.MosquitoDefenseSystem.com

No mosquito treatment will totally eliminate mosquitoes until all breeding sites in the area have been eliminated, which is almost impossible. However treatments will suppress the mosquito population. Remember that mosquitoes only need a thimble full of water to survive, which means homeowners must be vigilant. It’s important to eliminate conditions around your home that attract mosquitoes, such as standing water around yards, in bird baths, roof gutters, pet food dishes or potted plants. If you are in need of an ongoing Mosquito Control option, please visit our Mosquito Defense System website to learn more about this revolutionary treatment option.

Mosquito Tips
  • When outdoors, spray an EPA-approved insect repellent on exposed skin and over clothing.
  • During prime mosquito biting hours of dusk to dawn, wear long sleeves and pants in addition to repellent, or consider staying indoors.
  • Make sure screens on windows and doors fit tightly and have no holes.
  • Eliminate breeding sites by emptying standing water from objects around the home, including flower pots, buckets, tire swings, and childrenÂ’s wading pools when not in use.
  • Change the water in pet dishes and replace the water in bird baths weekly.
